Project Overview
The Weiler Engineering Corporation (WEC) was chosen to complete the design of Winchester Boulevard. Permitting of drainage and stormwater management system for this new hurricane evacuation route along Winchester Boulevard in Englewood Florida. The project included coordination with multiple consultants. Design and permit of the new roadway and the associated sidewalks, utility and drainage facilities. It was necessary to design parallel roadside swales within a narrow right-of-way for treatment, attenuation and conveyance of the stormwater runoff. To evaluate, analyze and design five separate off-site flood compensation areas to offset the impacts created by elevating the roadway above the 100 year flood elevation.
WEC’s responsibilities also included the necessary design and permitting to reroute Oyster Creek. This was needed in order to construct the new Winchester Boulevard roadway. As Principal in Charge, Project Manager, and Project Engineer, Jeff Weiler was responsible for all the stormwater aspects of this project. He provided coordination, design, modeling, and permitting for this project.
