Post-Irma Damage Assessment
The Parrot Key Resort, is a classic Key West conch style 5 acre resort featuring three-story buildings with 148 hotel rooms, suites, and vacation rental each with views of either the resort’s four swimming pools or overlooking the Florida Bay. The property features a poolside bar café, fitness center, tropical sculpture gardens, and a private sunning terrace. Weiler Engineering Corporation (WEC) recently completed a structural inspection and assessment of the existing fishing pier, as well as a feasibility report and concept designs for expansion of the facility as an amenity for over-water events accommodating up to 100 people. Following Hurricane Irma the resort contracted WEC to complete a complete structural inspection and assessment report for all hotel rooms and seven other amenity structures, along with design and recommendations for structural repairs.
