Project Overview
The Weiler Engineering Corporation (WEC) worked with Village staff to identify thirteen areas, including Venetian Shores, of concern throughout the Village that were experiencing excessive flooding. WEC collected existing data, prepared concept designs, estimated budgets and assisted the Village to identify funding opportunities for each site. The report provided a technical assessment of the Islamorada stormwater management options available within the Florida Keys themselves. In addition, WEC visited each and every site after a storm event to witness first the problem first hand.
WEC summarized the following options:
- Gravity Stormwater Wells
- Pump-Assist Stormwater Wells
- Exfiltration Trenches
- Swales
- Oil and Debris Baffles
