Weiler Engineering Corporation (WEC) was tasked with providing Construction Engineering and Full time Inspection for guardrail retrofit project on 3 DeSoto County bridges. The total construction cost was $1.25 million and was funded by an FDOT grant.
The project involved removal of concrete guard railing from the bridge deck, deck medications, the construction of steel post guard rail on the bridge and approached, utility modifications and improvements to the approach areas. Guardrail retrofits were on heavily traveled numbered County roadway which receive high regional and local traffic and agricultural truck traffic.
WEC provided public coordination, full time inspection, submittal and shop drawing review, pay application review, pay application review, change order review, grant management, grant reimbursement assistance and project management. Throughout construction, WEC held weekly progress meetings and maintenance accurate minutes and project records as required by the grant funding source.
